Once quarried, the granite is polished and given its trademark shine. In the past, the only way to polish granite was to rub one stone against another using sand and water as an abrasive. Now machinery has refined the process and allows for greater control and degrees of polish. Large mechanical polishers pass over the granite for several hours, using finer and finer grades of abrasives each time.

After polishing, the slabs are then cut to size according to each customer’s requirements using automated laser precision diamond tipped saws. This is a skilled job, as we mentioned earlier, granite is second only to diamond in terms of hardness. Before installation all the granite is checked against the templates.
